Our Mission
The Austin-Chiang Mai Sister City Committee promotes peace, friendship, and mutual understanding between Austin, Texas and Chiang Mai, Thailand through citizen diplomacy. We facilitate collaboration in education, culture, economic development, law enforcement, and technology—guided by the official Memorandum of Understanding signed by both cities.

OUR HISTORY
A Historic Partnership
The United States and Thailand share the oldest diplomatic relationship in the Asia-Pacific region, dating back to the 1833 Treaty of Amity and Commerce. In February 2025, Austin and Chiang Mai became official Sister Cities.
